MacBook Air M4: Apple’s Sleek Redesign Tackles Past Aesthetic Quirks

Apple’s latest MacBook Air lineup introduces a new sky blue color option and addresses previous cosmetic concerns associated with the midnight color variant. The M2 MacBook Air, released in July 2022, debuted the midnight color—a dark aluminum finish that closely resembled black. However, users quickly noticed that this color was highly prone to visible fingerprints and smudges, leading to widespread dissatisfaction.

In response, Apple announced a “breakthrough anodization seal to reduce fingerprints” with the M3 MacBook Air. This innovation significantly mitigated the smudging issue for that model. Despite this improvement, the company continued to offer the M2 MacBook Air in midnight without the enhanced anodization, leaving potential buyers concerned about the persistent fingerprint problem.

As of this week, Apple has streamlined its offerings by discontinuing the M2 and M3 versions, replacing them with the new M4 MacBook Air. This updated model not only features the improved anodization seal across all color options, including the new sky blue, but also comes with a reduced starting price of $999. These changes effectively eliminate the cosmetic issues that previously plagued the midnight MacBook Air, providing users with a more aesthetically pleasing and smudge-resistant device.
